Super Star

Well the sunny weather has come and we have purchased Maya a pair of sunglasses (Dora the Explorer) to deal with the bright sun. For a while she would have nothing to do with them but now she loves to put them on. If is really funny that when she originally puts them on she immediately smiles as if she is getting her picture taken. She then proceeds to put them on top of her head, lets them hang from her nose and then puts them back on.

My Mom's a Teacher!

Thats right, Tanya graduated with her Bachelor of Education on May 11th. We are very proud of her accomplishment and since then she has been working as a substitute on a regular basis. Who knows, there may be an awkward time in the future where little Maya may come face to face with a teacher that knows all her tricks.

Spring TIme????

The weather is completely unpredictable this time of year but one thing is for sure, Maya loves the outdoors. One day she can go outside with light clothing on and the next we have to put a hat and mittens on her.

Florida - Part 1

Well we found out first hand how different it is traveling with children. Although it had its challenges, overall the trip was wonderful. Maya had a new found freedom with walking outdoors in the warm weather and was like the energizer bunny. We also found out that she is a water rat. Even on the colder days when no one else would go in the water, we could not keep her out. She loves the water and wanted to be in it continually. Some times she would just climb the step in the pool and sit on the edge and other times she would float around waving at everyone. The weather on the trip was just ok but the bad weather days were wisely used to provide Maya with a brand new wardrobe. She will be one well dressed little girl this summer.

Florida - Part 2

The Great outdoors

One of the few nice days we have had in March, Tanya took Maya for a walk and on the way home she let her out of the stroller and walk around. She was so impressed with her new found freedom to move around that it was hard for us to get her to come inside. When the weather warms up, it should be fun.

Happy Chinese New Year

Yesterday was the Chinese New Year (year of the pig) so to celcbrate we decided to go out for dinner and have what else but Chinese food. Although, not authentic, it served its purpose. There usually is a Chinese New Year celebration in Halifax but fir soime reason it got delayed. As you can see, our little Geisha was more than happy to dress up for the occassion.

Fun On The Ice

Yesterday it warmed up just enough that we decided to take Maya out to play. It was her first time on a sled and her firsat time on the ice. Neddless to say we all had a great time and ended up with rosy cheeks.

More Pictures

Finally an Update

We know it has been a while but things have been a little crazy. Maya is now fully mobile and if you turn your head for a second, she is gone. Some of her favorite things to do now are putting her hands in the toilet or garbage, climbing into the cupboards or climbing on Jessie. She is becoming more vocal and it is amazing how quickly she is changing.

She has started daycare and she loves it. We think that it is a great opportunity to interact with other kids her age.

We will try and keep a more concerted effort to update on a regular basis.

Take care.

Merry Christmas

We are in the process of getting ready for Santa and it is taken on a whole new perspective. Maya really does not have a concept of what is happening but we are all excited about Santa coming. I'm sure when the big day comes, she will be overwhelmed by the event. We took Maya to get a Christmas picture done (the same day as the family portrait) and it was extremely difficult to get her to stay in one place for more than 2 seconds. The photographer took over 30 pictures and only 3 or 4 were suitable. Here is one of our favorites. We hope that everyone has a Safe & Happy Holidays

Fall Fun

Maya loves playing with leafs. Any chance she gets, she will grab one and dissect it. On this day, we had just come back from a walk and sat in the front yard where she had fun with the fallen leafs. The scenery was so nice that we could not resist taking this photo.

Growing Up Proper

This is one of my favorite pictures. Maya loves playing with hats and will usually take the hat off my head and put it on hers. Although you only see the back of it, this is a picture of Maya wearing her favorite hat and I can be assure you that the front has the emblem of the best hockey team ever, the Montreal Canadians. It is reassuring to know that your child will grow up proper and know what a championship team is like.

Computer Whiz

I don't know what it is about computers, but Maya is fascinated by them. If she sees you on the computer she will want to be in your lap and once there, she heads directly for the key board. No matter how far you distance her from the keyboard, she will twist, turn and reach to get at it. I had my laptop home the other weekend and when she finally noticed it, this was the end result.

Me & My Dog

Given the opportunity, Maya love to make a bee line for Jessie. Some times she pulls at her, climbs over her or just to hang out and watch the scenery.

Family Picture

It is amazing the numbers of pictures we have taken since Maya has come into our life. She has become a bit of a ham in front of the lens which is making getting that "perfect picture" very difficult. It is funny to watch her perform but at the same time, more pictures need to be taken. Thank god for digital photography!

Christening

This weekend was Maya and Zoe's christening. They performed wonderful and were the hit of the church. There were not many tears shed but the long service made them a bit antsy at the end. All and all it was a great day.

Happy Halloween - Lady Bug

Not that she really had an idea of what was going on but we dressed Maya up and took her to her Grandparents and a couple of houses. I know that we ate more candy than her but that will change in the upcoming years.
